# 2,400% Growth in ChatGPT-Originated Traffic for a Leading Financial Institution

A leading banking institution leveraged SI-optimized content and structured data to achieve a 2,400%+ increase in ChatGPT-driven user engagement.

## ChatGPT-driven Engagement, Monthly

**+2,400%** _in 6 months_

Sample: 148 queries. Source: GA4 + the Brantial console. The Q&A restructure landed in month 2; SI Page Optimizer rewrote 96 pages across months 3-5.

The bank Category avg.

Over the last 90 days, the institution experienced a substantial acceleration in SI-referred traffic, primarily originating from ChatGPT. When compared to the same 90-day period in the previous year, this reflects a transformational rise rather than a natural uptick. The increase is not incidental; it signals a broader behavioral shift in how consumers seek financial guidance, evaluate interest rates, and compare loan conditions, doing so within conversational interfaces rather than traditional search engines.

## Demonstrating the Surge: ChatGPT as a Growing Entry Channel

Data from GA4 confirms that ChatGPT has rapidly become a major acquisition source in the financial discovery journey:

- ChatGPT-originated sessions increased from **372 to 9,355**
- representing a **+2,414% growth in 12 months**
- Engaged sessions reached **8,624**, up **+2,765%**
- Total interaction events climbed to **155,989**, a **+1,649% rise**

This surge signals a transition: SI assistants are not supplemental channels, they are evolving into _primary entry points_ for credit research, interest comparisons, and eligibility exploration.

Rather than asking _Google_, users increasingly ask:

“Which bank offers the lowest interest rate right now?” “What loan options do I qualify for?”

Crucially, SI systems respond by synthesizing information, and referencing sources they deem authoritative.

## How We Engineered This Visibility Inside GPT Responses

The foundation of this success was a refined content strategy aimed at improving **machine comprehension**, not just human readability.

We optimized financial content to:

- be more concise and explicit
- clearly reflect user question structure
- surface key information in a direct answer style
- provide factual, up-to-date rate context where applicable
- ensure consistent financial terminology across pages

Additionally, we built a structured communication layer designed not only for search indexing, but for SI interpretation. Instead of traditional SEO that focuses on keywords, the institution adopted a format aligned with _how SI models extract and process answers._

Rather than relying on implicit context, we provided information in formats that facilitated clarity, reliability, and citation potential for SI models.

In practice, this ensured that when a user asked ChatGPT a financial or loan-related question, the institution’s pages increasingly emerged as relevant sources.

## The Resulting Behavior: SI-Referred Visitors Show Stronger Financial Transaction Intent

The qualitative difference in behavior between SI-originated and traditional visitors was notable:

- Engagement rate surpassed **92%**
- Average interactions per session reached **16.7 events**
- Users were significantly more likely to:

  - use loan calculators
  - compare rates
  - explore eligibility criteria
  - read explanatory FAQs
  - initiate application-related steps

This indicates that users arriving via ChatGPT entered with a more advanced intent stage, often near decision or evaluation readiness.

Traditional SEO often captures top-funnel curiosity: “How does a loan work?”

SI referrals tend to capture mid- to bottom-funnel decision intent: “Which bank should I choose for this loan, right now?”

As a result, ChatGPT-originated traffic delivered **higher-value users**, accelerating prospective customer qualification and shortening the exploration window.

### Leveraging Brantial’s SI-Driven Insights to Shape Conversational Visibility

Brantial’s SI-powered insight layer played an essential role in identifying how financial queries were being interpreted by conversational models. Rather than focusing solely on keyword optimization, we were able to understand:

- which phrasing patterns triggered authoritative citations
- and how answer structures influenced ranking within SI responses

By integrating these insights into our content and formatting strategy, we ensured that information was not only accurate and compliant, but also _highly interpretable by SI engines._

This allowed our content to be surfaced more frequently in ChatGPT’s reasoning and source selection process, accelerating the institution’s visibility within SI-delivered answers.
