# Connect Google Search Console and Analytics

Bring your Google search data and AI referral traffic into Brantial. Connect both in about five minutes, choose your site and property, and fix common errors.

Updated October 23, 2026

Brantial reads two Google sources for your project. **Search Console** shows the Google searches your pages appear for, with clicks, impressions and position. **Google Analytics** shows how many people reach your site by clicking a link in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and other AI answers. Both connections are read-only and take about five minutes.

## Before you start

- **Only the project owner can connect Google.** Team members see an **Ask the owner to connect** button on the **AI Traffic** screen, which emails the owner.
- **Use one Google account that can see both.** Brantial links one Google account to your login and uses it for Search Console and Analytics in all your projects.
- **Search Console:** with that account you must be able to open your site’s property in [Search Console](https://search.google.com/search-console). Owners, full users and restricted users all work.
- **Google Analytics:** the account needs at least the **Viewer** role on your site’s GA4 property.

> **Are Search Console and Analytics on different Google accounts?** Give one account access to both before you start. In Search Console, open **Settings → Users and permissions** and add the account. In Google Analytics, open **Admin → Property access management** and add it as a Viewer.

## Connect Search Console

1. In Brantial, open your project and go to **Settings**. Scroll to **Google connections**.
2. Click **Connect Search Console**.

3. Choose the Google account, then click **Allow** (or **Continue**). If Google shows a checkbox for Search Console data, tick it first. Brantial can only view the data; it cannot change anything in your account.
4. You come back to **Google connections**. Open the **Select a Search Console site** list and choose your site. The sites that match your project’s domain are marked **Recommended**.

The site and property names here are examples.

If your site has a domain property (it starts with `sc-domain:`), choose it. It covers every version of your site, with or without www and on both http and https.

## Connect Google Analytics

1. In the same card, click **Connect Google Analytics**.
2. Choose the same Google account and click **Allow**. If Google shows a checkbox for Analytics data, tick it first.
3. Back in Brantial, open **Select a Google Analytics property** and choose your site’s GA4 property. The list shows each property with its account name.

You can also connect Google Analytics from the **AI Traffic** screen. It goes through the same steps.

## Check that it worked

Both rows show **Connected**, with your Search Console site and GA4 property next to them.

- **Search Console:** open **Pages**. The **Google queries** tab and the clicks and impressions next to each page fill in within a few minutes. Google publishes search data with about a two-day delay, so the latest days always come in last.
- **Google Analytics:** open **AI Traffic**. **Visitors from AI** shows the AI visits for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, and which pages they landed on.

## Change or disconnect

- To use a different GA4 property, click **Change property**. To stop using it for this project, click **Remove**.
- To use a different Search Console site, choose another one from the list.
- **Disconnect Google** at the bottom of the card removes Search Console and Google Analytics from all of your projects. Use it before you connect a different Google account.
- You can also remove Brantial’s access from your Google account at any time on [Google’s third-party connections page](https://myaccount.google.com/connections).

## Troubleshooting

When a connection does not go through, Brantial tells you on the **Google connections** card. Find the message below.

### “No Search Console sites available”

The Google account you connected cannot see any Search Console property. If the list says the account is missing Search Console permissions instead, connect again and approve access. Add that account to your property in Search Console (**Settings → Users and permissions**), or click **Disconnect Google** and connect the account that already has access.

### “Select the Search Console property that belongs to this project domain”

You chose a site that does not match the project’s domain. Pick one of the sites marked **Recommended**. If none is marked, check the domain in your project settings, or add your site to Search Console first.

### “No accessible GA4 property was found in this Google account”

The account has no GA4 property it can read. Add it to the property as a **Viewer** in Google Analytics (**Admin → Property access management**), then click **Reconnect Google Analytics**.

### “Google did not return long-term access”

Google gave Brantial a one-off sign-in but not lasting access. This usually means a checkbox on Google’s screen was left unticked. Connect again and approve access. If it happens again, remove Brantial on [Google’s third-party connections page](https://myaccount.google.com/connections), then connect once more.

### “This Google account is already linked to another user”

Another Brantial login already uses this Google account, often a colleague who signs in with Google. Connect a different Google account, or ask the project owner to connect theirs.

### “Disconnect the existing Search Console account before connecting a different Google account”

Your login is already linked to another Google account. Click **Disconnect Google**, then connect the new account. You will need to choose the site and property again in each project.

### Google says access is blocked

Some company Google Workspace accounts only allow apps approved by their administrator. Ask your Workspace administrator to allow Brantial, or connect with an account that has access to the same properties.

### “Your Google connection has expired”

This appears in the Search Console list when Google no longer accepts Brantial’s access. Click **Disconnect Google**, then connect Search Console and Google Analytics again and choose your site and property.

### “Your Google Analytics connection has expired”

Google stopped letting Brantial read your Analytics, for example after a password change or when access was removed. A bar at the top of your project says so, and the owner gets one email. Click **Reconnect Google Analytics**. Your property stays selected.

### AI Traffic shows few or no visits

Brantial counts only visits that Google Analytics can trace to an AI app. Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode send visitors as ordinary Google search, so they are not included. A new GA4 property also needs a few days of data before the numbers mean much.

## What Brantial can see

- **Search Console:** the searches, clicks, impressions and positions for the site you choose.
- **Google Analytics:** visit counts, landing pages, key events and revenue for the property you choose.
- Brantial lists the names of the sites and properties your account can see, so you can choose one. It reads data only from the ones you choose.
- Access is read-only. Brantial never changes anything in your Google account and never sees your Google password.
