Sources & Citations

See the pages AI trusts.

Every AI answer leans on a handful of websites. Brantial shows which domains and pages AI cites for your topics, the lists where your rivals appear and you don’t, and your own pages it reads without naming you.

  • Every cited URL

How AI picks its sources

From a question to a cited answer.

  1. Someone asks

“Which hiking boots are best for wide feet?”

  2. AI searches the web

It runs a few searches and opens the pages that come back.

  3. It reads the pages

Forums, reviews, brand sites and videos all get read.

  4. It cites a few

Only some end up as links in the answer. Brantial shows you both.

How we measure

Taken from the answers, not estimated.

  • Real citations

Every link an engine adds to its answer is stored with the prompt, the engine and the date.

  • Read, not only cited

We also record the pages an engine opened while searching, including the ones it left out of the answer.

  • Checked on the page

A gap is shown only after the cited page has been checked for your name and your competitors’ names.

  • Period against period

Each source is compared with the previous period, so rising and falling sites stand out.

FAQ

Questions about Sources & Citations

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly and someone from the team will reply.

Which engines do you collect sources from?

From every engine you measure that searches the web before answering: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok.

What is a citation gap?

A page AI cites, usually a comparison or a list, that names one or more of your competitors but not you. Each one is checked against the page content before it appears.

Can I see my own pages?

Yes. Pages lists your URLs with how often AI cites them, and Insights shows the ones cited without your brand being named.

Can I export the data?

Domains, URLs and opportunities can be exported as CSV or Excel.
